Since 2005, Piero Agostinetti has been a nuclear fusion researcher with Consorzio RFX, Padua, Italy.

Since its foundation in 2019, he is an employee of ISTP (Istituto per la Scienza e Tecnologia dei Plasma), belonging to CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche).

In the framework of EFDA, F4E, EUROfusion, and ITER research programs, he has participated in several projects related to the research and development, construction, and operation of NBIs (Neutral Beam Injectors) and diagnostic systems for fusion experiments, in collaboration with Max Planck IPP (Garching and Greifswald, Germany), NIFS (Toki, Japan), QST (Naka, Japan), CEA (Cadarache, France) and ITER (Cadarache, France).

He has been a Technical Coordinator of the experimental sessions in the RFX experiment since 2010 and a Session Leader for the SPIDER experiment since 2018.

In 2018 he has been nominated Task Area Leader for the DEMO NBI.

In 2022 he has been appointed Project Leader of the injector for the DTT NBI system.

In 2023 he has given an invited talk on the DTT NBI at the SOFE conference in Oxford, available here.

He has authored or co-authored over 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals.

He contributed to the NBI-related part of the book “Fundamentals of Magnetic Fusion Technology” edited by IAEA and freely available here.

Dr. Agostinetti holds two Italian Patents regarding a novel technique for metallic junctions and an innovative particle accelerator.
